Faculty Monthly Kudos, November 2014
Please join me in congratulating our colleagues for the following accomplishments!
James Cushing is quoted extensively in two music-history books by LA-based writer Harvey Kubernik: Turn Up the Radio! Rock, Pop, and Roll in Los Angeles, 1956-1972 and Leonard Cohen: Everybody Knows (which also includes statements from Larry Inchausti and Steven Marx). Jim also wrote the forward to Kubernik's It Was Fifty Years Ago Today: The Beatles Invade American and Hollywood. Jim's poetry appears in the locally-published Corners of the Mouth anthology as well as in the new issue of Apercus Quarterly. His new full-length poetry collection The Magicians' Union was released on November 2 by Cahuenga Press.
John Hampsey's story "The Garage Room," excerpted from his work-in-progress Soda Lake, is in the current issue of the Alaska Quarterly Review. Also, "The Rivers," excerpted from Kaufman's Hill (forthcoming in Feb.), is in the current issue of The Gettysburg Review.
Dustin Stegner's article "Masculine and Feminine Penitence in The Winter's Tale" appeared in Renascence: Essays on Values in Literature 66 (2014).
