Cal Poly English Department Now Accepting Poetry Contest Submissions

Cal Poly's English Department is now accepting submissions for the 2015 Academy of American Poets contest.

All registered Cal Poly students are eligible to enter for the chance to win the $100 first-place prize. To enter, students can submit up to three poems totaling no more than 150 lines.

Submissions should be sent via email as a single attachment with the subject “Academy of American Poets Contest” to the English Department,, by 4 p.m. Friday, May 15.

A poet or editor from outside the university is typically selected to judge submissions. The selection process for the contest judge is complete, and the judge will be announced with the contest results.

The Academy of American Poets is an organization that promotes poetry across the country through sponsorship of individual university contests.

Previous winners have gone on to prestigious graduate programs in creative writing and are publishing at the national level.
