Resident Tuition Waivers
- application period: February 1 through May 1
- amount: full tuition waiver for three quarters (excepting fees)
- number: ten awarded each year, university-wide (to be increased in future)
- criteria (academic): scholastics (GPA, GRE, GMAT, etc.), research experience
- criteria (non-academic): CA resident, M.A. applicant, financial need (complete FAFSA)
- retaining waiver: maintain 3.0 GPA, take 8 units/qtr each of three three quarters one receives funding, must serve as TA or GA all three quarters
- application process: application through Interfolio/GradEd website; graduate director scores application, then informs dept. chair & dean of decision
Non-Resident Tuition Waivers
- application period: February 1 through May 1
- amount: reduces out-of-state tuition (about $20,000/yr) to in-state tuition (about $10,000/yr)
- number: twelve awarded each year, university-wide (to be increased in future)
- criteria (academic): diversity, scholastics (GPA, GRE, GMAT, etc.), research experience
- criteria (non-academic): new & current M.A. students, financial need, no FAFSA required for this waiver
- retaining waiver: maintain 3.0 GPA, take 8 units/qtr each of three three quarters one receives funding, must serve as TA or GA all three quarters
- application process: application through Interfolio/GradEd website; graduate director scores application, then informs dept. chair & dean of decision
TA/GA Programs (supported by Student Success Fees)
- application period: spring quarter
- amount: indeterminate amount per student
- number: enough to fund 16 TA and 34 GA applications across campus (pool of $200K per year)
- objectives: enrich undergraduate and graduate learning experiences, improve time-to-graduation rate, realize teacher-scholar model
- procedure: individual departments hire TA's; Rebecca Burnside hires GA's
- application process: apply to program's graduate director
Graduate Equity Fellowships
- application period: May 1 through September 1
- amount: $1000/yr per student
- number: ten awarded each year, university-wide (to be increased in future)
- criteria (academic): scholastics (GPA, GRE, GMAT, etc.), research experience
- criteria (non-academic): new and current M.A. students, financial need (complete FAFSA, CA resident, diversity
- application process: application through Interfolio/GradEd website; graduate director scores application, then informs dept. chair & dean of decision
CSU Pre-Doctoral Programs
- number: seventy-five awarded across all CSU schools each year
- criteria: scholastics, financial need, planned career in teaching/research at university, U.S. citizen
- deadline: application due 7 March each year
- objective: provide students opportunity to complete summer research at school where they hope to earn a PhD, etc.
Chancellor's Doctoral Incentive Program
- amount: $10K/yr up to $30K for full-time doctoral degrees
- deadline: applications due 3 February
